IRCC has announced a new intake procedures on sponsorship of parents and grandparents.
Applications will no longer be accepted via a first-come-first-served basis. Instead, intake will be administered via lottery.
That means, between January 3, 2017 and February 2, 2017, IRCC will be conducting a brief interest intake session, where an applicant will register their interest in applying for parental sponsorship. These hopeful applicants will be added to a pool consisting of other hopeful applicants.
IRCC will then select, randomly, from that pool and issue these hopeful applicants an invitation to apply. Applicants who are chosen have 90 days to submit a complete application package for sponsorship.
What is unclear is whether these invitations will be re-issued if invited applicants fail to apply, wishes to abandon their application, or submits an incomplete application.
